Whether the Inequality of Things is from God?

In the Summa Theologica Saint Thomas Aquinas affirms:

Therefore it must be said that as the wisdom of God is the cause of the distinction of things, so the same wisdom is the cause of their inequality… . Hence in natural things species seem to be arranged in degrees; as the mixed things are more perfect than the elements, and plants than minerals, and animals than plants, and men than other animals; and in each of these one species is more perfect than others. Therefore, as the Divine Wisdom is the cause of the distinction of things for the sake of the perfection of the universe, so is it the cause of inequality. For the universe would not be perfect if only one grade of goodness were found in things.”

This must come as quite a shock to those who unconsciously follow a Marxist narrative.

  1. In a world of slavery, second-class women, haves and have nots … obviouly that’s what God wants because the devil hates what God likes and wants equality. Are we so sure it’s not the other way around?

    • Nevertheless, it is a world subject to original sin. This has some bearing on Man’s fallen nature. And as you may know this world has changed quite a lot since Descartes subjective philosophy, Martin Luther’s protestant revolt, and the Masonic inspired French Revolution of 1789. Some are impressed with secular slogans: “Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity”, but the result has often meant death and destruction. And behind these words is Man’s pride and his revolt against God which continues to this day in the form of world-wide apostasy. • There’s a passage where Paul tells the church to share, it goes along the lines of “… so your plenty can provide for what they lack, and in turn, their plenty can provide for what you lack … as it is written, the one who gathered much didn’t gather too much, nor did the one who gathered little.” That’s how we should consider our equality, realizing that inequality reveals quarrels, favoritism, it shouldn’t be God’s gift of haves vs have nots, Jesus’ upside down inside out kingdom is one of equals … brothers and sisters who have one father.

      • “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

        Matthew 22:37-39.

  2. To a butterfly, it’s butterfly-ness is just as precious to it as our humanity is to us. The amazing miracle of life is not “ordered” from “top” to “bottom” — that is a human construction in order to rationalize our amazing greed — which is now destroying the beauty of creation. It’s amazing that Christianity has been co-opted by the rich and powerful for so many millennia to rationalize systemic and unfair inequality. Of course, there is competition in nature and there’s nothing wrong with that. But nature is much more about cooperation than it is about competition. We just find ourselves *focusing* on the competition because it is more dramatic. It can be life-threatening in the immediate now so we pay attention. But over the long term, lack of attention to the love and cooperation of nature will also lead to destruction. It’s just a longer trajectory. Don’t fall for the tricks of those who play “The Game” with life, love, humanity, and nature. https://petersironwood.com/2019/09/10/essays-on-america-the-game/

    • Peter, Who told you all this or did you work it out for yourself? You assume Christianity is top down indoctrination while the ‘philosophy’ you embrace is true. Why do you think that?

How do you know that you have not been brainwashed? Unthinking conformity with prevailing fashion is pretty common today and your views are just about mainstream. Have you ever questioned this?

Incidentally, truth and error are not equal.
